HP Pavilion 15-eg0021nr Laptop Review

The HP Pavilion 15-eg0021nr is a stylish, portable workstation with an excellent price-to-performance ratio that can easily compete with the MacBook Pro for creative tasks.

PROS
  • Excellent performance for the price
  • Sleek design
  • Well suited for office work
CONS
  • Sub-average display

The HP Pavilion 15-eg0021nr is the most recent portable laptop for the average office worker who need a portable workstation. While this laptop is aimed more towards office workers, any professional or college student looking for portability, style, and performance without spending a fortune will find a lot to like about it.

The HP 15-eg0021nr’s 11th-Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7 CPU makes it a capable multitasker, but if you’re going all-in on browser tabs or processing huge spreadsheets at simultaneously, the 16GB RAM included with this configuration will help you get the most out of this HP Pavilion 15.

Design

Many creatives might mistake the Pavilion 15 for another professional notebook due to its minimalist gray chassis and easy-to-open lid, but the stylised Chrome HP logo on the lid is visible enough to give the game away. Despite this, the chassis is elegant and sophisticated, befitting the professional laptop it is.

The Pavilion 15-eg0021nr is a small laptop for portability, but it doesn’t have a small profile – measuring 14.18 x 9.21 x 0.70 inches and weighing 3.86 pounds – with a full-size chiclet keyboard, number pad, and a 15.6-inch display with thin bezels.

The right-hand side has a single USB Type-C port (with support for Type-C displays), USB 2.0 Type-A, HDMI, and a microSD slot. The charging port and a single USB 2.0 Type-A port are on the left side. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 provide wireless communication.

HP Pavilion 15 display – Is it good for photo editing?

When it comes to photo editing, the HP Pavilion 15’s display isn’t the best. Yes, it has a full HD (1920 x 1080) display and integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, but it isn’t up to the task of photographing or creating digital art. All it does is allow you to view and analyse data on a brilliant screen with a wide color gamut and a brightness of 250 nits.

If you need a laptop for any kind of photo editing, go for one with a specialized graphics card and a higher screen brightness. In any event, if your laptop of choice doesn’t have a maximum brightness of at least 300 nits in 2021, you should think reconsider it. You may look into the HP Envy 13 or the Razer Blade Stealth 13 for this.
