Xiaomi Mi Box 4S launched with same specs as Mi Box 4

Xiaomi has officially introduced the Mi Box 4S in China for the low price of 289 yuan ($43). The business just unveiled a few features of this product yesterday, but the full details are now available. Unfortunately, it does not bring any hardware upgrades, as we predicted.

The recently released Mi Box 4S is the same as the Mi Box 4 that was released in 2018. In other regions, the latter is marketed as the Mi Box S and Mi Box 4K.

That means it has the same Amlogic S905X quad-core chipset with 4 ARM Cortex-A53 cores and Mali 450 GPU. The RAM and internal storage capacities are likewise comparable, at 2GB and 8GB, respectively.

The Chinese tech giant’s latest streaming box offers 4K 60fps (H.265) video playback, HDR, Dolby Audio, and DTS Sound. The remote is the same basic one that comes with all Mi TV products, complete with a voice assistant key and microphone.

The device has dual-band WiFi 5, Bluetooth 4.3, 1 x HMDI 2.0, 1 x USB 2.0, 3.5mm headphone port, and power input for connectivity. PatchWall UI is installed on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

If this product is ever released in the United States, it will run Android TV Pie, similar to the Mi Box S/Mi Box 4K. In any case, it is unlikely to be released outside of China because the new model does not make sense in comparison to the prior model.

Xiaomi, on the other hand, sells Mi Boxes in white in its own nation. In fact, the new Mi Box 4S is only available in white. This color option should be available in other regions as well.
