Monday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board released state-by-state registration statistics for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry examination. More than 1.8 million individuals registered for the examination this year.

According to the statistics, Zamfara has the lowest number of candidates in Nigeria and the South West, while Lagos has the highest number. Abia has 31,782 candidates; Adamawa has 22,268; Akwa-Ibom has 35,369; Anambra has 42,960; Bauchi has 23,509; Bayelsa has 20,270; Benue has 51,003; Borno has 22,310; Cross River has 27,041; and Delta has 58,082. Others are Ebonyi 12,600; Edo 44,648; Ekiti 23,224; Enugu 37,448; FCT 77,705; Gombe 25,673; Imo 30,782; Jigawa 19,195; Kaduna 94,113.
