It’s Facebook Official, Dating Is Here

Facebook Dating helps you find love by connecting you with others who share your interests, activities, and groups, making it easier to create meaningful relationships. It simplifies the process of making a dating profile and provides a more genuine picture of someone’s personality.

We’re starting Facebook Dating in the United States today. In addition to Facebook friends, people will be able to incorporate their Instagram posts directly into their Facebook Dating profile, and they will be able to add Instagram followers to their Secret Crush lists. We’ll also make it easy to add Facebook and Instagram Stories to your Dating profile by the end of the year.

Because finding a love partner is so personal, we designed Dating to be secure, inclusive, and opt-in. This product places a premium on safety, security, and privacy. We worked with experts in these fields to include safety features into Facebook Dating from the beginning, such as the option to report and ban people, the prohibition of sending photographs, links, money, or videos in messages, and simple access to safety guidelines. These and other features provide you greater control and peace of mind. Here’s where you can learn more about Facebook Dating and privacy.

How It Works

If you’re 18 years old or older and have downloaded the most recent version of Facebook, you can now opt into Facebook Dating and create a second Dating profile (from your main profile). Others who have opted in will be recommended to you. People are suggested based on your Facebook preferences, hobbies, and other activities. Facebook dating isn’t about swiping left or right, or waiting for someone to like you before reaching out. If you like someone, you can leave a comment on their profile or hit the Like button to let them know. You can ignore them if you aren’t interested. You can match with friends of friends and/or people who are not in your friend group on Facebook Dating. Unless you use Secret Crush and both add each other to your list, Facebook Dating will not match you with pals. All of your Facebook Dating activities will be saved. It won’t be seen by anybody else on Facebook.

Key Features

People will soon be able to connect and share with Facebook and Instagram Stories.

Today people are asked to make a decision as to whether or not they like someone immediately based on a static profile. To help you show, rather than tell, who you are, we’re bringing Stories to Dating. This format lets you be authentic in a way that a typical dating profile can’t, and it helps you get to know someone before and after you match.

Secret Crush lets you match with people you already know on Facebook and/or Instagram.

People told us they were interested in exploring prospective romantic relationships inside their expanded circles, such as their Facebook friend list and Instagram followers, but Facebook Dating doesn’t match you with your Facebook friends by default. That’s exactly what our popular Secret Crush function allows you to do. You can choose up to nine of your Facebook friends or Instagram followers who you’re interested in using Secret Crush. (You must connect your Instagram account to Facebook Dating in order to acquire Instagram followers.) If your crush has chosen to participate in Facebook Dating, they’ll be notified that someone has a crush on them. It’s a match if your crush adds you to their Secret Crush list as well. If your crush isn’t on Dating, hasn’t made a Secret Crush list, or hasn’t added you to it, no one will know you’ve submitted their name.

you can now add your Instagram posts to your profile in Facebook Dating.

Adding Instagram posts to your profile will make it easier to build a better dating profile, show aspects of your life to others, and find shared connections that spark conversation.
