Apple announced three new iPhone models at the same time for the first time in 2017. While the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus represented a natural development in the iPhone series, the brand new iPhone X, which included Face ID and no home button, gave users a glimpse into the iPhone’s future.

iPhone 11 Summary

The iPhone 11 is the successor to the iPhone XR, and the moniker reflects a change in Apple’s naming approach to emphasize that this is the “default” iPhone for everyone. The iPhone 11 trio, which are powered by Apple’s own A13 Bionic chip, are the quickest smartphones available today, with last year’s iPhone lineup serving as the closest competition at the time of filing this review.

The camera department has seen the most advancements, thanks to both software and hardware changes. The 12-megapixel Wide and Ultra Wide cameras on the back deliver great image quality in almost all conditions. Night Mode makes Apple competitive in low-light photography, and then some, allowing the iPhone to finally compete well with Google, Samsung, and Huawei’s capabilities in this category.

This phone, like the iPhone XR, will provide all-day battery life, and iOS promises fast upgrades, something that most Android OEMs still struggle with today. It isn’t, however, a perfect phone.

The screen is the same low-resolution panel we saw last year, and Apple continues to include a 5W charger, which is ridiculous. While the former is something most people won’t notice because of the panel’s great color accuracy and brightness, the latter is something you’ll have to deal with on a daily basis unless you opt for a quicker charger separately.

Overall, thanks to the much better low-light camera performance, the iPhone 11 is a surprisingly attractive upgrade. If you were planning on getting last year’s iPhone XR, save some money and grab this one instead.
