Global Xiaomi 12 model passes through Geekbench with 8GB of RAM

It’s no surprise that the Xiaomi 12 will be available in many languages, as its predecessor, the Mi 11, did after its original introduction in China. Last month, the 12 was revealed for the company’s domestic market, and it’s likely to go global soon.

Someone had already run a prototype of the global model through Geekbench’s paces, which has naturally resulted in its inclusion in the benchmark’s public database.

This means that, like its Chinese counterpart, the global Xiaomi 12 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset (the “taro” motherboard has already been linked to Qualcomm’s latest and greatest). The phone in issue has 8GB of RAM, and it’s unknown whether the worldwide Xiaomi 12 will get a 12GB RAM option like the Chinese version.

The prototype runs Android 12, so it’s pretty much a guarantee that the worldwide model will follow suit – albeit with MIUI 13 on top. Because the 2201123G model number was revealed as such by a previous certification in Indonesia, we know this is the global Xiaomi 12. The global Xiaomi 12 Pro, on the other hand, will be designated by the model number 2201122G, indicating that, unlike the Mi 11 Pro last year, the 12 Pro will be available worldwide.

And given the size difference between the 12 and 12 Pro, the 12 Pro can be considered the Mi 11’s genuine successor. Of course, a 12 Ultra will be released at some time, though it will most likely follow its siblings later in the year.
